Legislative Research

For the history of specific legislative bills Oregon Archives Research will compile bill tracings using the original bill files, the legislative committee hearing minutes and submitted exhibits, and any other records or publications. Information in the bill tracing will include committee names, hearing dates, page numbers, exhibit titles, and audio cassette numbers. The bill tracing will provide the necessary information needed for accurate copying of the minutes, exhibits and audio tapes provided to the client. The research and copies can be specific to an individual bill or all bills which established and amended an Oregon Revised Statute.

Prior to ca. 1940, committee minutes and exhibits are almost nonextant. Copies of the original Oregon Laws from the Territorial Government to the present day Legislative Assembly can be procured. History and copies of  applicable Oregon Administrative Rules can also be provided.
